Google tests sponsored product grid replacing organic product grid in SERP

Google is testing a sponsored product grid within the SERP, and it seems like this can be changing the natural product grid completely. This was first noticed by Brodie Clark, who posted about it on X.

He wrote: “Wow, I guess the CTR on this new product grid advert unit from Google goes to skyrocket. They’ve basically simply changed the natural product grid with a ‘sponsored merchandise’ title (not disclosed sufficient IMO) that blends in massively and can confuse customers.”

Right here is the screenshot he shared.

I agree with Brodie on this one. Google seems to have changed the unique natural product grid with a sponsored model, and the labeling isn’t distinct sufficient. Customers may simply miss the “Sponsored merchandise” title and click on by means of with out realizing they’re partaking with an advert slightly than an natural outcome.
