Google will officially sunset its Ads API v18 on Aug. 20. Any applications still using this version after that date will see all API requests fail.

Why we care. For developers and advertisers who rely on the API to manage and automate Google Ads campaigns, a missed upgrade means broken integrations, disrupted reporting, and paused ad campaigns.

What’s next:

  • Google urged all developers to migrate to the latest API version before the deadline.
  • Tools are available to help: upgrade guides, release notes, and real-time API usage tracking in the Google Cloud Console.
  • Projects can check usage history—down to specific method calls like google.ads.googleads.v18.services.GoogleAdsService.Mutate—to ensure all dependencies are addressed.

Bottom line: If you’re still running on v18, the clock is ticking. Upgrade before Aug. 20 or risk losing access to your ad operations.
